Bananas for Bananas!Bananas for Bananas!

The Healing Power of Bananas

January 4, 2019 By //  by Francene Loomiller 3 Comments

Today I’m going bananas for the healing power of bananas! They’re one of my all-time favorite foods and fortunately one of the most healing foods on the planet.

It’s amazing that something as simple as a banana can have such profound healing effects, especially when consumed on a daily basis.

Bananas are a great addition to smoothies and as a snack at any time of day. They’re creamy and satisfying and serve as a great replacement to unhealthier processed snack options, so eat as many bananas as you want!

Don’t Like Bananas?

If you don’t like them or find they don’t sit well with you, you can still experience the healing power of bananas by adding small amounts for starters to smoothies and work your way up gradually to a whole banana and continue from there.

Frozen bananas in particular are a great addition to smoothies and you may find the frozen texture more palatable than fresh.

Hidden Banana in Smoothie

In fact, check out the delicious Pumpkin Pie Smoothie I share below, based on a Medical Medium recipe I adjusted to accommodate for taste and texture issues in my own family.

This is a special treat and not meant to replace your daily superfood smoothie, which I’ll share about in a future post. I shared this recipe because I hear a lot from folks who don’t like the taste or texture of bananas and this smoothie is a fun and delicious way to experiment with working in more bananas.

My daughter especially can’t stand bananas and also doesn’t like finding the smallest specks of dates in her smoothies if I use those as a sweetener. Here I use pure maple syrup instead, a mineral-rich alternative. And guess what, she loves this smoothie. Score!

Why Bananas?

Remember that food truly is medicine, so if you have an adverse reaction to bananas, it’s most likely a healing response as the banana is literally killing pathogens on contact. Now your body now has that toxic debris to eliminate which can cause uncomfortable symptoms right away.

According to Life-Changing Foods, by Anthony William, just a few of the conditions bananas can help relieve are IBS, autoimmune disease,  GERD, adrenal fatigue, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, depression, hemorrhoids, PTSD, shingles, anxiety, hypoglycemia, neuropathy, headaches, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, blood sugar imbalances, candida overgrowth and so many more!

So please enjoy this humble often overlooked fruit and comment below to let us know your favorite way to consume bananas and how many bananas you eat daily, we’d LOVE to hear from you!

P.S.  In case you’re wondering, I eat about 4 – 6 bananas per day on average!

Sounds wonderful. My girls don’t like pumpkin pie but love pumpkin puree smoothies and pancakes.

Luckily the whole family loves bananas! So true to ease them into your daily diet if you don’t eat them regularly. Not only do we eat them but the girls and I do banana face masks too! I love to freeze cut banana slices – if for some reason we didn’t get to eat them soon enough. Easy for smoothies or a cold snack.
